Nationalhcs has ONE full-time, year-long, position available for Clinical Psychologists at a correctional facility in State Farm, VA. This position will provide appropriate advanced individual and/or group psychotherapy for referred inmates diagnosed with mental illness.

Specifics

  • Locum Tenens –OR– Employee with benefits positions available
  • MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR A ONE YEAR ASSIGNMENT to ensure continuity of care
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday

Description of Work

  • Provide mental health services to offenders including crisis intervention, screening, psychological assessment and evaluation (psychological test administration, scoring, interpretation and report writing), psycho-educational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under the supervision and direction of the Psychologist/Psychology Associate Senior
  • Screen, track, and monitor offenders with mental health services needs in the general population and special housing
  • Involvement in the development, implementation, and monitoring of mental health services, policies and programs at the facility
  • May be involved with special units or programs
  • Serves as a consultant to Administration Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff
  • Provides in-service training

Requirements

Minimum

  • Masters in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in psychology
  • Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders and the ability to develop intervention and treatment plans and to provide individual and group counseling or therapy
  • Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory, and ethical practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing

Preferred

  • Preferred Doctorate degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in psychology
  • Relevant professional experience under supervision to include demonstrated skills in psychological assessment including diagnostic interviewing intelligence and personality testing and interpretation and report writing
  • Experience providing mental health services in a correctional, forensic, outpatient or another setting
  • Licensed or license eligible as a mental health professional an/or certified as a service provider

Additional

  • Active/Clear Psychologist license valid in Virginia
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements
