Job Summary

  • Nationalhcs has Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) positions at a long-term care facility for disabled children in Raleigh, NC. This facility provides comprehensive rehabilitation and nursing services to patients with varying levels of disabilities, ranging in age from 0-18.


  • 8-hour shifts
  • Shifts available:
    • 1st shift (6:45am to 3:15pm)
    • 2nd shift (2:45pm to 11:15pm)
    • Weekend shifts also available
  • 40 hours per week
  • One-half hour lunch break
  • 13-week renewable Assignments
  • Scrubs: Any color, any pattern
  • Orientation/training provided at facility
  • Flu shot required, in season
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, a plus

Description of Work

  • Implement patient's active treatment programs including behavioral/skills training, physical/nutritional management programs, leisure time activities, and other direct care supports
  • Provide personal care (grooming, toileting, dressing, hygiene, nail care, lifting, transferring, positioning, etc) respecting patient's right to dignity and respect
  • Lift and transfer patients according to positioning needs and schedules
  • Maintain data pertaining to prescribed programs, leisure activities, and other data as requested including care provided
  • Assist in providing formal educational programming in a classroom setting (1st shift only)
  • Monitor for and communicate changes in patient's status
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards at all times
  • Ensure all emergency procedures are followed in the event of a fire drill, actual fire, or other emergencies
  • Utilize all safety procedures and equipment when lifting patients, moving equipment, etc.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policy and procedure
  • Adhere to the facility's policies and procedures
  • Follow HIPPA guidelines
  • All other duties as required and requested by supervisor


  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active/Clear nurse certification valid in the state of North Carolina
  • Minimum 1-year nursing experience, preferably working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Valid NC driver's license
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Direct care experience within the previous year in the US
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, email, and computer literate
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client/facility screening/application requirements, including drug screen and criminal background check
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients safely using proper techniques (up to 40 pounds unaided, up to 100 pounds aided)
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in using the following machines/tools and equipment:
    • Hoyer lift, van lift, therapeutic positioning equipment, bathing system, electronic thermometer, suction machines, oxygen concentrators, pulse ox monitors, oxygen tanks, nebulizer machines, feeding pumps, "The Vest", Vent, scale, etc.
