Certified Nursing Assistant, Juvenile Corrections

Job Summary

Working with youth age 12-18 at a youth detention center.



  • 12-week renewable assignments
  • Day shift
  • Monday-Frida
  • 8-hours (either 30 minutes or 1-hour non-paid lunch)
  • On-call may be required and will be determined. On-call will be rotated, if needed.
  • COVID vaccine required
  • Must attend HERO training
  • Experience in adolescent, pediatric, school, public health, correctional-juvenile, and/or emergency nursing practice

Description of Work

  • Assist nursing staff with patient care activities as assigned.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks
  • Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
  • Report on the condition of patients
  • Follow established inflection control practices and emergency protocols
  • Assist patients in wheelchairs, on stretchers, and ambulating
  • Promote and encourage patient hydration and elimination
  • Assist patients with ambulation, turning and repositioning, and range of motion activities
  • Cleanse bedside units, workrooms, and equipment
  • Assists with washing and sterilizing equipment
  • Prepare and maintain written reports and records as assigned
  • Respond to call lights promptly and courteously
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Active/Clear NC professional nursing assistant certification (CNA)
  • Minimum 1-year experience
  • Direct care experience within the previous year
  • Basic knowledge of Nurse Aide skills
  • Ability to follow care plans and/or clinical orders
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current TB and Hepatitis declaration
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, email, and computer literate
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements
