Job Summary

Nationalhcs has an Occupational Therapist position in St Louis, MO. This position is located at a residential school for the blind with approximately 50 students. This position will be starting for the 2020-2021 school year. This position will work with patients who are recovering from injuries and disability and help them regain their abilities so that they can resume daily activities.

  • Tuesday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7.0 student hours paid + 0.5 hours for paperwork paid + 30 minute lunch unpaid)

    Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7.0 student hours paid + 0.5 hours for paperwork paid + 30 minute lunch unpaid)

Description of Work

  • Conduct physical and psychological assessments
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Advise on adaptive equipment to help the patient with daily activities
  • Educate caregivers and family members on patient care
  • Evaluate the results and progress of occupational therapy
  • Maintain professional knowledge and the technical progress in order to provide patients with the best treatment program available
  • Comply with federal, state, and local certification requirements
  • Evaluate patient condition regarding physical and basic mental health
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to take care of clients with different personalities
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks
  • Ability to assess patient condition and work with treatment plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) certified school.
  • Performed at least 6 months of occupational therapy work experience as part of an internship under a licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Successfully have passed the NBCOT OTR examination
  • Active/Clear Missouri license to practice as an Occupational Therapist
  • Bachelor degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association)
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to follow care plans and/or clinical orders
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements​
