  • Corrections facility
  • 13-week or 26-week renewable assignments
  • 8-, 10-, 12-hour shifts available
  • Must attend HERO training

Description of Work

  • Conduct patient sick calls weekly
  • Assist physician with sick calls as directed
  • Use approved facility protocols to treat minor injuries and illnesses which do not require physician attention
  • Prepare and administer medications as per physician order
  • Refer patients to physician’s clinics, or hospitals as appropriate
  • Maintain stock and supplies in a neat, secure, and orderly manner
  • Maintain adequate inventory of drugs and medical supplies by notifying the appropriate person of items that have fallen below par levels
  • Prepare medical records, medications, and information for transferring patients
  • Ensure that all treatments and medications are fully documented in the patient’s health record
  • Physical activity requirements include climbing up/down stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Active/Clear Licensure by the NC State Board of Nursing
  • Minimum 1-year clinical experience
  • Direct care experience within the previous year
  • Clinical/corrections experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Active/Clear CPR and CPI, or NCI (American Heart Association)
  • Current TB and Hepatitis declaration
  • Agree to cooperate and participate in review and service programs of the facility including utilization management, quality assurance, credentialing, sanctioning, external audits, administrative procedures, and grievance procedures
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, email, and computer literate
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other client screening/application requirements
