Registered Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse (Health Educator)

Job Summary

This position will be part of a team to strengthen infection prevention and control in long-term care settings, focusing on those settings with less clinical and infection prevention infrastructure.


  • 40 hours per week
  • May require weekend and after-hour work
  • In-state travel
  • Assignment through November 15, 2022 (with renewal anticipated)

Description of Work

  • To provide education to congregate living settings related to COVID-19 mitigation strategies. The position is funded through November 15, 2022. Seeking RN/LPN for Long Term Care Facilities (LTCFs). This position covers an 11-county region and strives to provide on-site infection prevention and control training and consultation to all types of LTCFs. The goal is to reduce the introduction of disease through on-site training and consultation with facility staff in the use of evidence-based infection control procedures consistent with applicable guidelines.
    • Attend NC SPICE training
    • Provide prevention education to congregate living facilities within a defined territory
    • Schedule visits, phone calls, and education sessions
    • Troubleshoot questions and issues
    • Answer telephone and return voicemail as needed
    • May assist with setting up equipment and supplies as needed


  • Bachelor's level degree from a four-year college or university in health education, education, or public health
  • Graduate of accredited Nursing program
  • Minimum two years clinical experience in the medical or public health field working with patients or other staff members
  • Infection Prevention certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Active/Clear Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of North Carolina
  • Active/Clear Certification in Infection Control
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Active/Clear North Carolina driver's license
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Must be flexible, able to work independently, and work as a Team
  • Ability to follow care plans and/or clinical orders
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements​
