LPN Specifics

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)  positions
  • Adult corrections
  • Renewable assignments
  • First shift (6:00am-2:30pm)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must attend HERO training

LPN Description of Work

  • Conduct patient sick calls weekly
  • Assist physician with sick calls as directed
  • Use approved facility protocols to treat minor injuries and illnesses that do not require physician attention
  • Prepare and administer medications as per the physician's order
  • Refer patients to physician’s clinics or hospitals as appropriate
  • Maintain stock and supplies in a neat, secure, and orderly manner
  • Maintain adequate inventory of drugs and medical supplies
  • Prepare medical records, medications, and information for transferring patients
  • Ensure that all treatments and medications are fully documented in the patient’s health record
  • Other duties as assigned

LPN Requirements

  • Active/Clear Licensure by the NC State Board of Nursing
  • Minimum 1-year clinical experience
  • Direct care experience within the previous year
  • Clinical/corrections experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Active/Clear CPR and CPI, or NCI (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of screening/application requirements (e.g., competency testing, drug screening, background check)
  • Physical activity requirements include climbing up/downstairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing
