  • Up to 50 hours per 6-week schedule

Description of Work

This position is responsible for providing care to patients undergoing surgery, including:

  • Pre- & postoperative patient education
  • Preparation of the patient for procedures
  • Preparation of room for procedures
  • Assist providers with surgical procedures
  • Suture removal
  • Wound care
  • Setup of IVs
  • Chart all information in EMR
  • Communicate patient needs to provider
  • Monitor patients before and/or after surgery
  • Must be able to adapt quickly and attend to the needs of each patient
  • Physical activity requirements include climbing up/downstairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases and must adhere to the bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan
  • Ability to lift and/or turn patients
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently
  • Record time of arrival, departure, and lunches in their designated area
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Active/Clear Licensure by the NC State Board of Nursing
  • Minimum 1-year clinical experience
  • Direct care experience within the previous year
  • Clinical/corrections experience preferred
  • Competence in assessment skills, managing clinic flow, reviewing and teaching about medications, assessing and responding to emergencies or emergent health issues both on-site and as phone triage
  • Active/Clear CPR and CPI, or NCI (American Heart Association)
  • Current TB and Hepatitis declaration
  • Current Flu vaccination
  • Current COVID vaccination (or weekly testing)
  • Agree to cooperate and participate in review and service programs of the facility including utilization management, quality assurance, credentialing, sanctioning, external audits, administrative procedures, and grievance procedures
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, email, and computer literate
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other client screening/application requirements
