Job Summary

Nationalhcs has a Speech/Language Pathologist position in St Louis, MO. This position is located at a residential school for the blind with approximately 40+ students. This position will be starting for the 2021-2022 school year. This position will assist patients who have disabilities or experienced traumatic events that left them with speech, voice, or swallowing impairments.

Description of Work

  • Diagnose, treat, and prevent speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Assess patient condition.
  • Create treatment and therapy plans to suit the individualized needs of a diverse population of patients.
  • Perform screenings to detect voice or speech disorders.
  • Educating patients and family members about speech disorders and causes, including disabilities and traumatic events.
  • Keep detailed records relating to patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress.
  • Report progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members, teachers, or medical professionals.
  • Experience with certain conditions or working with specific age groups may be preferred.
  • Strong understanding of speech-related conditions, causes, and treatments.
  • Excellent coaching and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially patient and healthcare databases.
  • Attentive and caring with the ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).


  • Master's or doctoral degree from an ASHA Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) accredited program or other accrediting agency approved by the Advisory Commission for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (Commission)
  • Passage of the national examination for speech-language pathology and audiology
  • Active/Clear Missouri license to practice as a Speech/Language Pathologist
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to follow care plans and/or clinical orders
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements​
