Move over coffee…

You are working the night shift and feel low on energy. Before you head for your third cup of coffee, consider one of these energy snacks to get you through your shift.

  • Nuts/Seeds

Nuts are not only a healthy mix of unsaturated fats but are also good for your heart. Rich in protein, dietary fiber, antioxidants, magnesium, and potassium, they help to maintain healthy blood pressure levels. To reduce your sodium intake try unsalted almonds, walnuts, or pistachios. A handful of about 10-15 nuts serves as a crunchy nutritious snack that is easy to eat on the go!

  • Berries

Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries…take your pick! All berries are packed with antioxidants, which help to reduce the risk of cancer. One cup of berries per day can be a great source of essential nutrients. Berries are a healthy dessert alternative to chocolate and help reduce sugar cravings.

  • Avocados

Avocados are high in fiber, potassium, and healthy fats which are great cancer-fighting antioxidants. Avocados are delicious to eat plain, miseducating in a salad, spread on toast, or even as a side dish. A great energy booster for your afternoon slump.

  • Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt contains probiotics to aid in digestive health, has twice the protein of regular yogurt, and leave you feeling full longer. To make it even more powerful add mixed notes, berries, or avocado to get an even bigger impact.

Additional quick and healthy energy snacks for grab and go:

  • Apply or banana with nut butter
  • Air-popped popcorn
  • Cheese Kebabs (cheese, cherry tomatoes, basil are a great combo)
  • Celery with nut butter and raisins (aka ants on a log)
  • Veggies and hummus
  • Hard-boiled egg
  • Edamame
Forget that cup of coffee!! Plan your nutritious snack the night before to take with you. Healthy, money-saving, and delicious!
